I fully expect it and I have no argument about it, absolutely not.”If I’m honest, if this wasn’t such the club that it was, and has the owners it has, I would’ve been gone a while ago because my results haven’t been good enough and I know that.”I’m under no illusions, just as I knew in my previous job I was not untouchable, but, I was in a very secure position because my win rate was 55 per cent and we’d been promoted and we’d changed everything about it.”We’ve changed a lot here but we haven’t got results and that’s the be-all and end-all. So trust me, I fully expect if I don’t get results in the next few games that a decision will be made on my future.”

The Educational Assessment and Resource Centre, located on the grounds of Church Teachers’ College in Mandeville, was built by the Government at a cost of $35 million. Story Highlights The parish of Manchester now has a diagnostic and care centre, which will cater to the special learning needs of children with autism and cognitive challenges. “We are going to use the diagnostic centre to make sure that no child is left behind in the region,” he said, noting that it will customise learning through the use of technology. He was delivering the keynote address at the official opening of the centre on February 19.Senator Reid said that global figures indicate that one in every 10 students is likely to have severe special needs. He noted further there are persons with mild autism, who go undetected. “Indeed, one in every 42 boys is autistic and one in every 167 girls is autistic. Autism is on a spectrum of mild to severe. Some of the challenges faced in the classroom are because this goes undetected,” he said. The Education Minister said that in addition to establishing assessment and diagnostic centres, increased focus will be placed on an early stimulation/intervention strategy that addresses needs during the first 1,000 days of the child’s life. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said that the period spanning between conception and one’s second birthday is when the foundations of optimum health, growth and neurodevelopment across the lifespan are established.“Learning begins from conception because the first 1,000 days from conception to age two is a key age; two is the highest point of their cognitive neurological development (brain capacity)” Minister Reid added. In his remarks, Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) President, Dr. Garth Anderson, said the body has been advocating for the early assessment of students entering the education system at the early-childhood level for the purpose of developing a learning profile and targeted intervention.Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) President, Dr. Garth Anderson, addresses the official opening of the Educational Assessment and Resource Centre at Church Teachers’ College in Mandeville, Manchester, on February 19. In the late Sunday game in LaLiga, Atletico Madrid failed in the quest to earn three points against a Real Betis team that looks unbeatable at the moment. The result itself is not a reason to despair. What’s concerning is the fact that Simeone’s men have now failed to score in two consecutive matches and the Europa League matchup with Arsenal is looming on the horizon. Is the exhausting schedule catching up to his team, or are they just taking a breather and saving energy for what’s to come?Report: Owen now turns his attentions to Beckham George Patchias – September 4, 2019 Michael Owen has now turned his war of words towards David Beckham. In the players serialised book in the Daily Mirror, “Reboot” has now turned…The Wanda Metropolitano outfit now has a solitary win in its last five fixtures. The absence of Diego Costa is obviously hurting the team, as Fernando Torres is nowhere near the player he used to be and is not an adequate replacement. Since Costa is set to miss the first leg versus Arsenal, Simeone will need to find a solution up front or risks failure.Diego Simeone did rest several of his first-team regulars against a side that had won their previous six games. Cristian Tello hit the post for Betis, while Saul struck the crossbar for the hosts. The 0-0 draw means that now Barcelona only needs a point against Deportivo la Coruna next Sunday to officially win the title.
Ivan Rakitic has been dropped from Croatia’s squad for the upcoming game against England due to injury. The Barcelona midfielder will miss the all-important UEFA Nations League game against the Three Lions at Wembley on Sunday due to injury, according to Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic.Rakitic came off injured in the 67th minute of Croatia’s 3-2 home win over Spain on Thursday which gave the World Cup runners-up a chance to top League A Group 4 and claim a place in next year’s semifinals.“He will go to Barcelona, it’s a serious injury. You know that I usually take no risk. If there is a doubt that the injury could be serious, then we let him rest,” Dalic told Sky Sports.Dalic refused to reveal the type of injury but Rakitic was taken off, suffering discomfort in the back of his right thigh.Crouch: Liverpool could beat Man United to Jadon Sancho Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Peter Crouch wouldn’t be surprised to see Jadon Sancho end up at Liverpool one day instead of his long-term pursuers Manchester United.“We want healthy players and Ivan in this moment is not 100 percent ready. Unfortunately, we are going to play without him.”The 30-year-old has featured in 102 games for his country, but Dalic said they have players capable of filling in.“We will see who will replace him. We have [Mateo] Kovacic, we have [Josip] Brekalo, we have [Milan] Badelj,” he added.“There is always a solution and we should stop whining about someone who’s not going to be there. We will find a solution and we are going to Wembley to enjoy football.”The winner of Sunday’s game with England will progress to the semis of the Nations League with the losers being relegated to League B.

Tamir KalifaStudents on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. After subtracting student fees and paying for insurance, doctoral student Tom Millay takes home about $15,000 per year from a Baylor University stipend. But soon he could be taxed as though he earns three times more.Millay, who is studying religion and works as graduate assistant at Baylor, is one of thousands of doctoral students in Texas and beyond watching nervously as Congressional Republicans iron out the details of their tax cut bill. In exchange for his teaching duties, Millay receives free tuition — a $30,000 savings — and an annual stipend of $20,000. If lawmakers approve the House version of the bill, tuition waivers like his would be marked as taxable income, causing a major financial hit for him and thousands of graduate students like him.The Senate’s version of a tax reform measure does not include the same tax on tuition waivers. The two chambers must reconcile their differences before sending a final version of the bill to President Donald Trump, who has publicly pushed to sign a tax bill by the end of the year.“In terms of net income, [the House proposal] would put most Baylor graduate students right on the poverty line,” said Millay, who acknowledged that his spouse’s income would soften the blow for him. “When your net income at the start is only $15,000, losing additional thousands of dollars each year in taxes is a huge difference.”Universities across Texas and the nation have tried to rally against the proposal. A&M officials said they have “made clear” to lawmakers that the change would have “negative consequences.” Baylor University President Linda Livingstone gently suggested to students and staff that they express their “individual concerns” about the bill. And Rice University president David Leebron called the idea “odious” in a Houston Chronicle op-ed.If the House version of the bill is approved, taxes for some graduate students will increase by as much as 400 percent, according to estimates. Leebron says some of his students could see their tax bills go up five times their current amount. Experts also say the bill may lead to institutions seeing a decline in the number of graduate applicants, which could be devastating to major Texas research schools like Rice and the University of Texas at Austin.“This really affects me because I’m a full-time graduate student,” said Charity Embley, a doctoral student at Texas Tech University. “We’re not independently wealthy.”House tax bill hits higher educationThousands of masters and doctoral students across the country receive tuition waivers in exchange for teaching classes or conducting research. Under current law, those waivers aren’t counted as income. Only the students’ additional stipends, which are usually paltry compared to most full-time jobs, are currently taxed.House lawmakers have said they have moved to eliminate some individual tax breaks like the one for tuition waivers in order to offset the $1.5 trillion tax cuts elsewhere in the bill. But the change would mean that graduate students would be paying taxes on money they never pocket, critics say, and those additional taxes could make earning a graduate degree nearly impossible for some students. “From what I have been hearing as a representative for other graduate students, many live in a precarious financial position,” said Jeff Strietzel, president of the Baylor Graduate Student Association.Strietzel is a third-year doctoral student, a husband and father of four children. In addition to his studies, he works 20-hour weeks and helps run a student organization — all while living under the federal poverty line.“I know that higher education is not the route that every American will take to pursue their version of the ‘American dream,’ but I hope that my representatives have students like me in mind as they consider any reforms to tax policy that makes pursuing higher education in America more difficult,” he said.“We don’t know where we stand”While most expect some form of a tax bill to make its way to Trump soon, it’s still unclear whether the tax on tuition waivers will be included. In recent weeks, several university groups have staged walkouts in response to the House bill. And last week, 31 House Republicans — including six Texans —led by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Dallas, wrote a letter urging House and Senate leaders to leave the tuition waiver language out of the final version of the bill.“A tax on graduate tuition waivers would be unfair, would undermine our competitive position, and would inhibit the economic growth that tax reform promises,” the lawmakers wrote. “Repeal of the income exclusion for graduate tuition waivers would subject thousands of graduate students to a major tax increase at a time in their lives when they likely lack the ability to pay.”Nationwide groups representing some of the top research universities in Texas — including Rice, UT-Austin, the University of Houston and Texas A&M University — have come out in opposition of the bill.“As our counterparts and competitors abroad aim to vastly increase the number of skilled workers in highly technical fields, we can’t afford to roll back incentives that have long helped make the American workforce the envy of the world,” said Peter McPherson, president of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.Meanwhile, students who would be affected are anxiously watching. “We don’t know where we stand,” said Embley, the Texas Tech graduate student. “Ye PUBG wala hai kya?” Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked a mother who raised concerns about her son being too involved into online games during the “Pariksha pe Charcha 2.0” event here on Tuesday. The ground reality is that online, multi-player games have taken over the millenials big time in India, sending the earlier individual mobile games like Candy Crush and Temple Run almost into oblivion. Youngsters in smaller towns and cities can now be seen playing two such battlefield Internet games – PlayersUnknown Battleground (PUBG) and Fortnite – as smartphone penetration increases in leap and bound (there are nearly 430 million smartphone users in India now). Also Read – Add new books to your shelfThese “survival of the fittest” games where mobile users fight each other in real-time using virtual warfare techniques, have eclipsed single-player mobile games. According to a report by the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and Kantar IMRB in association with POKKT, a smartphone advertising platform for mobile games, the mobile gaming industry in India is projected to reach $943 million in 2022 driven by rising smartphone use and growing mobile app market. Also Read – Over 2 hours screen time daily will make your kids impulsive”We also have post-millennials who are heavy on gaming and smartphone brands are responding to this by pushing devices with greater processing power than before, as a result of which, games like PUBG and Fortnite are here to stay,” said an industry experts. According to the report, three out of four Indian gamers play mobile games at least twice a day, for an average of over 60 minutes, each day. Mobile gaming is also prevalent in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with similar amounts of time spent by the users, the report added. According another expert, “consumers have taken to mobile gaming in a big way, yet it still remains a relatively untapped advertising channel in India”. Since single-player mobile games were rendered monotonous at some point, players did not get aggressively hooked on to them as compared to the adrenaline-pumping, multi-player online games. The New-Age games are regularly updated with newer features, allowing the gamers to experiment with creating their own avatars, styling their own looks, choosing their own weapons, reading maps, making strategies and more. In a quest to experiment with newer career opportunities, young adults are also exploring gaming at a professional level today. With the proliferation of smartphones, gaming as a concept has picked up in India and the market is also ready now for PC gaming. Micro-blogging site Twitter recently revealed that it recorded one billion tweets on games with role-playing mobile game “Fate/Grand Order” topping the charts, closely followed by Fortnite and PUBG. With the kind of loyalty towards games has been noted in recent years, it would not be wrong to say that from just being a mode of recreation, group mobile gaming has risen to become a new dimension of existence for millenials in India.
