Angela Lang/CNET Google ruined budget phones for us when it released the Pixel 3A and 3A XL. The biggest reason is that the affordable phones have the same camera found in the Pixel 3 — one of the best you can buy. Most other budget phones, including my favorite the Moto G7, have decent cameras for the price, but with the Pixel 3A rocking the one from its older brother, it’s hard not to take notice. The Pixel 3A costs $399 and the larger Pixel 3A XL, which seems more in line size-wise with the Moto Z4, costs $479. Both Pixels run stock Android and Google has promised a minimum of three years of software updates for the phones. The Moto Z4 has a nice screen that’s also larger: 6.4 inches compared to the Pixel 3A XL’s 6-inch one. The Z4 lasted over 2 hours longer than the Pixel in our battery tests, despite having a lower-capacity battery. And the build quality of the Z4 feels much more premium than the plastic body of the Pixel 3A and 3A XL.If you’re a camera nerd, the Pixel 3A or 3A XL is the way to go, but if you want a bigger screen and longer battery life, the Moto Z4 is worth considering. Its biggest problem? All of the other great phones you can get for that price. Angela Lang/CNET I recently reviewed the Motorola Moto Z4, which sells for $499 unlocked here in the US. It’s part midrange phone, part modular monster and, with the addition of a $349 mod, part gateway drug for Verizon’s fun-sized 5G network. The reason it’s difficult to recommend the Moto Z4 to anyone other than 5G early-adopters or people up to their ears in Moto Mods is that there are a number of solid phones that cost around the same price. If you have a budget of around $500, boy oh boy, do you have some great phone options in 2019.For starters, there’s the $459 OnePlus 6T and the $479 Google Pixel 3A XL, the latter of which has one of the best cameras on any phone you can currently buy. Then there’s last year’s Moto Z3, which Motorola still sells for $480. But perhaps the most jaw-dropping alternative is the Samsung Galaxy S10E, which can be bought through Verizon, AT&T and B&H for $550, or on Amazon for $520.Here’s how the Moto Z4 stacks up against the Galaxy S10E, Pixel 3A XL, OnePlus 6T and Moto Z3. Juan Garzon/CNET Currently Motorola sells the Moto Z4 for $500 and the Moto Z3, which has a more powerful Snapdragon 835 processor and can also use the 5G Moto Mod, for $480. The Moto Z4 has a much longer battery life, comes with twice the storage and newer cameras on the front and back.Aside from the processor, the Moto Z4 seems like a better phone, especially its monster battery, which lasted 5 hours longer in our looped video tests in airplane mode than the Moto Z3.Both phones are able to be used on Verizon’s 5G network via a $349 mod. Though I didn’t test the Moto Z4’s 5G connectivity with the 5G Moto Mod, my colleague Jessica Dolcourt got to test a Moto Z3 with the 5G mod this spring. She describes the experience as “kludgy at best.” Her biggest issue with the Moto Z3 and 5G mod setup was the horrible battery life.If you want to get one of these phones to use with the 5G mod, grab the Moto Z4, since it offers a bigger battery. Otherwise, the Moto Z3 is compelling if you’re into more graphics heavy tasks like gaming, editing photos and recording video. Angela Lang/CNET The Moto Z4 and Galaxy S10E are two very different phones that by some twist of fate cost nearly the same — at least for the time being. The Galaxy S10E is essentially a scaled-down Galaxy S10 and includes a Snapdragon 855 processor, one of the best camera systems and wireless charging that can also be used to charge accessories like wireless earbuds or a smartwatch. At its original price of $750, the Galaxy S10E was an excellent deal. For $520 it’s incredible. At $500, the Moto Z4 lacks wireless charging and has a modest processor compared to the Galaxy S10E. On the other hand the Moto Z4 lasted 2 hours, 21 minutes longer in our looped video tests in airplane mode, has a larger screen and can be modded into a 5G phone with the addition of a 5G Moto Mod. Also, Motorola’s friendly and easy-to-use software on the Z4 is a delight. The near-stock take on Android is honestly one of our favorite versions of the operating system out there. All that said, the Galaxy S10E for $520 is an absolutely bonkers deal for what you get and I think would be a better fit for most people than the Moto Z4. Android 9 Pie 64GB Moto Z4 vs. OnePlus 6TLast year’s flagship for lessOnePlus phones have always been a wonderful value and with the 6T you get last year’s flagship for the price of a midrange phone. Juan Garzon/CNET Though it launched in November last year, the OnePlus 6T still offers more flagship appeal than the Moto Z4. It has a better design, build, display, cameras and faster performance. And if Motorola’s software take on Android is my favorite, OnePlus’ OxygenOS, with its elegant and simple UI, is my second favorite. The Moto Z4’s battery lasted 2 hours, 18 minutes longer than the OnePlus in our tests, however. And the Moto Z4 is 9 months newer than the 6T.If you want to save $40 — you can buy it for $459 on Amazon — the OnePlus 6T is the way to go. The music sensation Indeep Bakshi, who has to its credit the popular number Saturday Saturday from Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania’ said that he is not intimidated by his contemporaries as he believes that every artist has his own style. Since when did you develop an interest in music?Academically, I come from ‘Architect’ background but always loved singing. It all began eventually because I studied about buildings, designs and construction but had a good hobby of writing poems or quirky lines which made me to think to get into music industry. I tried experimenting with my voice when I was young and as I had my writing samples and talent to write poems which provoked me to sing professionally also. My writings needed just a touch of tunes or surr. And when I saw today’s generation enjoying music be it of any kind that encouraged me to continue with my decision of entering into singing. All I needed is music, tunes and raps which were combined with my song Saturday Saturday and you see; it went on to become a blockbuster hit amongst youth and everyone.Singing came naturally to me and I’ve spent years honing that ability. Also Read – ‘Playing Jojo was emotionally exhausting’On what basis do you pen down your songs? My lyrics are very conversational, and I write them to cater to the youth and the way that youngsters talk today and my music style is mostly R&B.My first sad song Tere Liye’ it’s a slow track and was in the movie Delhi Wali Zalim Girlfriend. This track was not to sale it out and nor was meant to be released, the song was one of the incidents of my life which turned out to be a fallout in a relationship and I wrote this song when I was in Shimla. At that time I wrote two songs one is Tere Liye and other one is 2 AM which is soon to be released. Also Read – Leslie doing new comedy special with NetflixTere Liye was bought by T-Series after they listened to my track which was set as my ringtone. Also another song which came was Billionaire and was based out of my real life story which lately Raftaar gifted me at the launch. How did ‘Indeep Sound’ happen?I used to listen to international and bollywood music both, then I try recreating bollywood music by putting my own music in it. After that I started writing songs and then I came up with Saturday Saturday, this happened when I was teasing my friend one day who had come from Punjab and was excited to see the nightlife of Delhi. Uski ek baat hoti thi, every Saturday party karni hai! I used to tease her ki Saturday Saturday karti raheti hai. I made a rough dummy of that track and my friend encouraged me to release it. Then I met Badhsah bhai and did it professionally. Tell us about your Bad Wali Feeling song. This is song has an adult certificate and the video content is strictly 18+. This song is in another genre of RNB mix only like Saturday Saturday was first house music. For this particular song, we had shot the video three times as I was not satisfied with the kind of video I wanted. At last the final video was shot in Dubai with a lot of entertainment in it.Sharing the platform with your contemporary artists like Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah how do you think the competition will affect you?As such there is no competition and nor do I take any singer as my competition. Every artist as his own style of singing and genre of music is also different. Secondly, more than profession it’s my passion and if we see the competition is more in the profession as compared to passion. Moreover, I know my style of singing is the future and the kind of music I produce will be the future. What are the other aspects of life which interest you?Music, cars and bikes are my interests for which I can go to any lengths. Also I possess a large classy collection of the same. I am an extreme junkie and have an attitude to try sports and also I’m willing to try my hand at new things. Though my interests keep changing, ultimate passion is luxury and music and yes I am constantly on the hunt for something bold and adventurous. What are your future projects? I am coming up with a new track Bad Wali Feeling which is an 18+ track. Also since my Sikh fans are saying that I am not wearing turban in the videos so for them I am coming up with a special track Singh honde Badhsah te Kaur hondi Queen. This is a pure bhangra track which has Punjabi culture in it. Besides this, my new track 2 AM which is very close to me will be out soon. Also, for the first time I will be featuring with Sunny Leone in the title track Paheli Bari Ki of the movie Tina and Lolo. This will be my third track in bollywood after Saturday Saturday and Tere Liye.I was not doing live concerts and performances for a long time but now I am planning them. I will be soon seen performing live in concert at the CEOL Festival at Metro Walk, Rohini.
Kolkata: From using a “jumla meter that nails the BJP’s lies” to highlighting the achievements of the eight-year-old Mamata Banerjee government, Trinamool Congress has built a “pro-active campaign” for the Lok Sabha polls, with the help of social media and conventional canvassing. The campaign is being driven from the party’s 24×7 war room in Kolkata, under the leadership of Trinamool Youth Congress national president and party supremo Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Also Read – Rs 13,000 crore investment to provide 2 lakh jobs: MamataAlongside him are a crop of media and tech savvy functionaries like the party’s leader in the Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien. “Our campaign strategy is partly decided on the basis of our own surveys. There is a research team which also places its findings. We have done a lot of work based on support from the ground,” said a party source. Abhishek, who is the MP from Diamond Harbour and now contesting to retain the seat, is the overall in-charge of the campaign. Also Read – Lightning kills 8, injures 16 in state”Abhishek is extremely sharp politically, just like his aunt and comes up with valuable suggestions. Derek and a group of young leaders are with him,” a Trinamool Congress leader said on condition of anonymity. “The 24×7 war room is the venue for constant deliberations, brainstorming sessions and strategy meetings,” he added. A lot of self-criticism takes place during the interactions to understand where the party stands in a particular constituency. Colonel (retired) Diptangshu Chaudhury, the party’s social media convener, said: “We are laying equal emphasis on social media and conventional campaign. For instance, our Asansol Lok Sabha candidate (Moon Moon Sen) has already done 195 public meetings and road shows”. Incidentally, Chaudhury is also the party’s election observer and election agent for Asansol, which Trinamool is striving to recapture from BJP. “Apart from our meetings and rallies, there are many of our dedicated soldiers working behind the scenes. In every booth, we have at least 20 people who are working day and night for the party. At the grassroots level, we are very strong. On the other hand, take my word, BJP won’t get polling agents in 80 percent of the booths in Asansol,” said Chaudhury. Both parties have led several rallies in the state and have several more planned for the coming days. For the sheer intensity of the political campaign here, this could be Ground Zero of BJP’s 2019 Lok Sabha campaign. “We are combating BJP in a pro-active and not defensive manner. We set the agenda, others defend,” Chaudhury added. For taking on BJP’s aggressive campaign led by Modi and Amit Shah, the Trinamool Congress social media team has come up with novel features like ‘Jumla Meter’ which gives immediate, crisp and fact-based rejoinders to BJP’s punches. For instance, on April 20 during his election meeting in South Dinjapur’s Buniadpur, Modi said: “We have shown the way by improving law and order in UP and Tripura.” Within 45 minutes, Trinamool’s Jumla Meter had a post that said: “Yesterday (April 19, 2019) an Election Commission probe confirmed large scale ‘booth capturing’ in Tripura. Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of crimes against women”. Chaudhury claimed that the BJP’s campaign is based on “fake news, lies and disinformation”. “They are mostly selling dreams and jumlas,” he said. Abhishek also heads the social media team, where O’Brien plays a very vital role in strategy and designing an innovative campaign. Besides Chaudhury, former NASSCOM Eastern Regional director Suparno Moitra also guides the party’s social media activities under Abhishek’s overall direction. “The social media is an instrument of god for poorer regional parties lacking in resources to match more opulent opponents,” said Moitra, the party’s joint social media convener. After the Trinamool Youth Congress president revamped the social media unit between mid-2017 and January last year, the focus of the content was broken into two – highlighting development projects of the state government and countering negative propaganda by the Opposition with facts. Trinamool Congress now has a huge presence on every online platform, including Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram and makes extensive use of videos, data and memes.
