Kolkata: Describing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as one of the “allies” of the BJP-led Central government, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged on Friday that the saffron party was harassing leaders of the Opposition through various central agencies out of sheer political vendetta.Coming down heavily on the CBI she said the “headless agency” has been converted into an organ of the BJP. In several public meetings held in the recent past, she had criticised BJP for destructing institutions like the CBI or ED. From @yadavakhilesh & Mayawati in UP to @MamataOfficial in Bengal n AAP in Delhi Modi-Shah duo has spared no political opponent.” She also retweeted the statement of Tejashwi Yadav. “The CBI has become BBI (BJP Bureau of Investigation). Whoever joins hands with the BJP gets clean-chit and becomes Raja Harish Chandra & those who criticise them are hounded by agencies. Even my father was not spared, because he is a critic of the RSS and BJP led Central Govt.” It may be noted that the CBI on Thursday arrested renowned Bengali film producer Shrikant Mohta of Shree Venkatesh Films, one of the largest media and entertainment production companies in eastern India, in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam. The Chief Minister, in her public rallies, had alleged that the party had threatened those who had opposed them. “If they have courage they should come and arrest me. You cannot scare me. I will continue to highlight your misdeeds as Trinamool Congress will always fight for the poor and the helpless. It is the government of the people, for the people and by the people,” she said during a recent meeting held in Birbhum. She had referred to the arrest of party’s MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay and said: “Why Sudipda was kept behind bars for so many months?” Over the months, the all-India leaders have realised that the BJP will try their utmost to break the grand alliance.
