Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the singles event of Asian Games 2018 with a 21-23, 19-21 loss to Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong. Srikanth endured a shocking end to an overall disappointing campaign for him in Jakarta.Srikanth completely looked out of sorts, troubled by the air movement in the hall while Vincent, with his defence and solid attack constantly caught Srikanth off-guard.Srikanth played some good strokes during the match but on the whole, he was no match to the aggressiveness of Vincent.While the first game of the match remained close throughout where both the players had their chances till the last moment, the second game always looked like Vincent’s.Vincent took the first game 23-21 when Srikanth’s wrong judgement at the back line did him in.In the second game, Srikanth remained on the backfoot, almost all the through the game. He event went into the break trailing 7-11.Srikanth fought back after the break, even took the lead for a brief moment before Vincent caught up with him and then defeated him.Earlier in the year, Srikanth had settled for silver at the Commonwealth Games 2018 after a loss in the final to Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei.However, there was none of it at the Asian Games this time.
