first_imgPROMOTED POST:Two well known Donegal Farms are hosting the first of a series of nationwide open days in conjunction with EASYFIX. The first two of this year’s events will be held in Donegal on the 17th and 18th June, where the EASYFIX Team will be on hand to offer advice on modern livestock housing options for beef and dairy farming.Donal Callaghan a well known Dairy Farmer in Killygordon will host the first on Farm Open Day on Wednesday 17th June from 11am to 3pm.Donal milks 50 cows and also finishes 15 bulls on the farm.He constructed a new dairy shed in 2014 and installed the NEW Easyfix Cubicle with rubber loop together with their single foam mattresses. The Callaghan’s completed the installation themselves and are extremely happy with the outcome.The cows have adapted very well to the flexible cubicles where they lie for longer periods, showing no nervousness and no injuries.Critical to the animals comfort is the mattress mat that they lie on, the interlocking mat features a 12 mm rubber skin and a very strong interlock on the perimeter.The single foam mattress features 25mm high quality latex foam which is covered in a 500 micron sealed envelope.This open day will provide existing dairy farmers and new entrants with a chance to see products at work and speak with Donal Callaghan and his son Donal.The Easyfix Team will also be present to answer any questions and advise farmers who are thinking of expanding their existing dairy facilities or building new ones. The Woods Family outside Raphoe is delighted to host an open evening on Thursday the 18th June from 3pm to 9pm.The Woods family run a bull beef enterprise in conjunction with sheep and potatoes. They finish approximately 1,200 continental type bulls and have housing for 750.They installed Easyfix rubber on their slats seven years ago with a second installation completed two years later.John and his family will be able to comment on all aspects of beef bull production in terms of animal type, bought in weights, finishing weights and general performance.
