first_imgDwight Yorke says he is ‘amazed’ by the reported lack of interest in the Sunderland job.The Black Cats are searching for their sixth boss in just four years and that statistic, coupled with the club’s woeful start to the season, has left potential top-level candidates reluctant to work under Ellis Short at the Stadium of Light.David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche are some of the names said to have ruled themselves out of contention to succeed Dick Advocaat. But Yorke cannot understand why managers are not queuing up to take over from the Dutchman.“Sunderland is a wonderful club to be a manager at and, if they can get things right there, the support is immense,” he told talkSPORT.“I’m a bit stunned [why more managers don’t want the job]. The reality is it is a fantastic job and I can’t see why managers wouldn’t want to take it.”Sunderland have yet to win in the Premier League this season and are five points adrift of safety, but Yorke insists they are not a lost cause.“There is enough good players in the dressing room to get them out of that situation. It is a relatively early stage of the season and things can turn around very quickly,” he said.“There is a decent squad there and I am just amazed people don’t want the job.”last_img
