Things appeared to be OK with the two until the former UFC two-division champion tweeted a photo of Malignaggi on the mat, trying to indicate he knocked down the current analyst for Showtime Boxing. Malignaggi called it a push and wanted the video released, but it never occurred.Join DAZN and watch more than 100 fight nights a yearLobov entered Malignaggi’s mind after the latter left McGregor’s camp when the former did interviews stating McGregor got the better of the training sessions. The comments infuriated Malignaggi, and it came to a head in April during a media session in New York for Lobov’s BKFC debut against Jason Knight. Malignaggi and Lobov were doing a staredown when trash talk ensued, leading to the former pugilist slapping Lobov and the two having to be pulled apart.Five days after the incident, Lobov (13-15-1, one no-contest MMA, 1-0 BKFC) dominated Knight to win by unanimous decision in the main event of BKFC 5 to make the Malignaggi clash one step closer to reality. But Malignaggi and Lobov weren’t done. When they attended a press event in New York in May to formally introduce the fight, Malignaggi hit Lobov with a microphone and spit on him.”I’ve always been known as one of the toughest guys in boxing,” Malignaggi said in a press release. “Lobov is known as a punching bag with a loud mouth. If I had it my way, I’d knock him out in the last round. I want to pummel him from start to finish.”You have the recipe for either a back-and-forth battle or both guys being hesitant to do anything.MORE: The timeline of events that made Malignaggi vs. Lobov so toxic”I feel I have the upper hand in this fight,” Malignaggi said. “With age, it’s easier to get knocked out. He’s never hurt anybody in the ring, so it’s going to be a bad matchup for him. I see me stopping him. He doesn’t want it anymore. In order to be a fighter and really compete, you have to have the fire. His fire is long gone. My strategy is to come in there and shove my fist down his throat. It’s personal now with the way he’s been talking and acting. I’m going to put him away.”Who is going to be the one to back up his actions? Here is everything you need to know about Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 6.When is Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 6?Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 6 will take place Saturday, June 22.
