first_imgAlthough it’s not slated to be as drastic an update as Froyo, Android version 2.3 aka Gingerbread is still worth getting excited about, if only because it is rumored to bring the first humble tweaks to the Android operating system making it appropriate for tablets… therefore closing the lead between Android and iOS.When will Gingerbread go live, though? It’s still unknown, but there have been a lot of hints lately that Android’s release might be imminent: Adobe unofficially confirmed that it was coming soon, and the HTC Nexus One is supposed to get an OTA update to Gingerbread in the next few day, according to rumors.Even so, this is the first we’ve heard official confirmation from Google that Gingerbread’s almost done: a recent Twitpic post sent from Google Mobile’s official Twitter account shows a tray full of Android-shaped gingerbread men being pulled from the oven.Coy, but if that’s not an official announcement that Gingerbread is baked, I don’t know what is!
